Once again, “Vassilenas” Restaurant is organizing a wine-tasting dinner on Wednesday, June 12. This time, Douloufakis Winery will be visiting us from Crete bringing some of their most acclaimed wines.
Douloufakis family has been involved in winemaking since 1930. Nowadays, Nikos Douloufakis runs the company and will be present to talk about his efforts to promote Cretan wines in Greece and abroad. He is the grandson of the founder and, after having studied oenology in Italy, has become one of the most influential winemakers in Crete.
The winery is situated in the heart of the 20ha privately-owned vineyards in Dafnés, near Heraklion, at an altitude of 350m. Douloufakis grows both local Cretan grape varieties (like Vidiano, Vilana, Liatiko or Kotsifali) and other Greek (Assyrtiko) and international varieties (such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Syrah).
We are proposing a 5-course wine-paired menu especially designed for this night by chef Manolis Garnelis (another Cretan…) and our sommelier Haris Chrisikopoulos.
